A Little Piece of Thunder

She only screams while it thunders
just loud enough to
ring in the ears of all
she cared enough to believe
and beliefs are made for people
living in what may not be
regrets
and she wishes one day to look at
the side of the moon
that brings light
and not dark
and the grayed out staircases
up to her
unwell
and the boy who couldn't promise
the best friend whose arms are littered
with lines of red
and sharp
begging her to try it just this one time
and she holds onto the handlebars
to hard
and slips
falling into a place where everything is
comprised
of blue blurs
and voices slur
and the alcohol sinks
flowing through her like
toxic ink
and her feet are moving
and she can't see a thing
and the world flashes back to
her playground and swings
innocent
not caring to lose or to win
and the pebbles arrange
themselves in the shapes of
her universe

make us see
again.
